What a paid UI library gives away: ThreeUI Community

The Design+Code team opened up the free part of ThreeUI, their React component library, as a community edition under MIT, with live previews, controls and the source for every component. The Pro and Beta components stay out of it and go to paying members through a CLI. The README also lists what sponsors pay for placement and how many views the site gets, a number the README itself calls “directional”. You can install the free components from npm and take them one at a time.

TL;DR

  • ThreeUI Community: open-source, login-free edition of ThreeUI, MIT
  • Bundled open fonts stay under SIL Open Font License 1.1
  • Same shell as main project: search, themes, component pages, live renderers, source tabs
  • Counts: 50 parent components, 111 routes, 141 free variants plus 23 singletons (164 results)
  • Pro and Beta components removed; “Get Pro” links go to pricing
  • Install: npm install @designcodeio/threeui, import component and @designcodeio/threeui/style.css
  • Full-HTML components need files from lib-dist/assets/ copied to public directory
  • Run locally: npm install, npm run dev
  • Pro source not on npm: npx @designcodeio/threeui-cli add <name>, OAuth with PKCE
  • Sponsor plans: $500, $1,500, $3,000 a month; ~90,000 site views a day (26 August 2026, directional)
